About Me

Hello! My name is Ella Torno, and I am an undergraduate student at Loyola University Chicago, completing my bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minor in communications. I created this space to share my career journey towards a job in speech-language pathology and to give insight into the steps I’m taking to reach that goal.

My end goal is to obtain my master's in speech-language pathology and to work in a setting that allows me to support and empower children.

Outside of the classroom, I stay actively involved in my community through volunteer work, my sorority, and an honor society on campus. I also work as a lab assistant at the Loyola Center for Research on Child Development, where I have been able to deepen my interest in child development and research.

This summer I spent my first month and a half working at the lab, studying event-related potentials in infants, to better understand how they process faces. The second half of my summer was spent studying abroad in Bulgaria, participating in I clinical program where we were able to observe and assist in local speech therapy throughout several communities.

I am currently in the process of applying to graduate programs, and I look forward to using this blog to share updates as I continue preparing for the next stage of my education and career!
